“The first film chooses you and then you choose your films,” with this mantra in mind a young Navdeep Chabbra left Delhi for the city of dreams. Little did he know that his arrival would soon get him the golden ticket to Bollywood. Navdeep will soon be seen in the Ram Kapoor-Sunny Leone starrer Kuch Kuch Locha Hai, his debut film. The film that features Sunny in a pivotal role is a comedy drama revolving around a father-son relationship.
Just like every debutant, Navdeep was extremely anxious before his first shot. He says, “For the first scene, we had to shoot a very long and intense scene between a father and his son. The minute I walked onto the set, well, that was the first time I met Ram sir. He has been a great support throughout. He was really helpful. He made me comfortable around the sets and he’d appreciate the sequences I performed well.” The actor admits to recording his rehearsals behind closed doors before going on the sets. He says, “I record all my scenes on my own before actually going in front of the camera.”
Ask him how it was working with a versatile actor like Ram Kapoor, and he says, “I am glad that I got this opportunity. I actually came to know pretty late that I would be playing Ram sir’s son. I got to know the cast when I was already finalised for the film.”
Navdeep also revealed that Sunny is more of a friend than a co-star. “Sunny is a very dear friend. She doesn’t make you feel like a newcomer,” he shared. With co-stars like Ram and Sunny, the sets were buzzing with energy, says Navdeep. Being a new entrant, Navdeep feels the cast and crew never let him stay aloof. In fact, he began to look up to Ram as a father figure off-screen too. Navdeep says, “Ram sir is just like my dad and I think that’s how the masses will relate to the film as well — it is just like the relationship you would share with your dad,” he said.
The Delhi boy also revealed that he will play the protagonist in Devang Dholakia’s upcoming film Zoom.
